the process
The Process For Making Our Quoins & Lintels Consists Of 4 Different Steps. Starting With Our Lorry Dropping Boulders Off, Of Which Have Weights Up To 10T And Lengths Of Up To 3.8m, Followed By Putting A Boulder On The Wire Saw To Cut Into Slabs Of 215 Or 300mm Thickness, Then We Take the Slabs To Be Cut On The Bridge Saw, And Finally Hand Punch The Quoins Or The Lintels.

In This Stage Of The Process, We Put The Big Boulders Onto The Wire Saw To Be Cut Into The Thickness' Of 215 Or 300mm- Unless Its Different For A Specific Job. When We Get To The Final Cuts, We Cut 125 Or 150mm So We Ensure We Get The Most Out Of Each Boulder.
Once The Boulder Has Been Sawn Up, We Then Split Each Slab Up Using Wedges As We Don't Cut All The Way Through On The Wire Saw To Prevent Jamming Of The Wire And The Slabs Moving Out Of Plum. Once The Slabs Are Split Up, We Stack Them Up Ready To Go Onto The Bridge Saw. |

Once The Boulders Are All Split Up Into Individual Slabs, We Put Them Onto Our Bridge Saw. For Slabs Over 1.5m Long We Cut Up For Lintels- Unless We Have Small Lintels To Make- And Slabs Under 1.5m We Cut Up For Quoins. Once We Get To The Last Cuts, We Cut Up Return Quoins To Make The Most Out Of The Stone.
